The Aberlour Whisky
The origins of the Aberlour whisky is interesting. Founder James Flemming started out as a grain dealer for local whisky distilleries. It was this point in his career that he realised he could open his own distillery close to the River Spey. In 1879, Flemming designed and opened his very own whisky distillery in Aberlour, taking only one year to produce his first batch.
What makes Aberlour whisky unique is that it matures in Spanish sherry and American oak casks with the barley being grown only 15 miles away. The locally sources ingredients and double cask maturity give Aberlour it’s famous substance.
