A 2015 release from Dalwhinnie, Winter’s Gold, is inspired by this Highland distillery’s chilly climate. Famed for being Scotland’s highest and coldest distillery, this dram is intended to be enjoyed served straight from the freezer. Freezing the whisky transforms it into syrupy nectar. Furthering the icy connotations, Winter’s Gold is only distilled from spirit made between October and March – the coldest months of the year.
Nose – Oak, fresh fruit, honey, toffee apple
Palate – Spice, heather notes, stronger honey, very light hint of smoke
Overall – A beautifully sweet and spicy dram, perfect for warming the soul in the middle of winter
