Coined as both the most richly flavoured yet rarist of all Scotch whiskies.
It is multi award winning. It was bottled from 123 sherry butts branded with the legend SS Great Auk, believed to be the ship in which they came over from Jerez over 30 years ago. The barley used was spread on stone malting floor on Islay and dried in thick peat smoke which was cut by the locals. Considered to be one of Laphroaig’s greatest triumphs.
Distilled in the 1970s and bottled in 2000
Nose – Rich and strong of smoke, peat and phenol hints such as iodine and tar.
Palate – Full and Rich but with an underlying sweetness. Hints of oakyness with sherry driving through
Overall a truly exquisite dram that is thin on the ground these days. “Moments such as this come but once in a lifetime” We only have one bottle for sale.
