Glenlivet distillery is located near Ballindalloch, Moray and is one of the oldest legal distilleries in that region, with its licence dating back to 1824. In 1822, a few years before the distillery began operating legally, King George IV was on a state visit when he tried a dram of The Glenlivet, not even the illegality would stop the King from enjoying the famous Scotch.
Glenlivet whisky was favoured by aristocrats and Kings throughout the 19th Century, this was due to the incomparable quality of the brand. Even today, The Glenlivet is still considered to be a definitive Speyside Malt. The standard and quality of Glenlivet whisky are critically acclaimed and has set the bar incredibly high for its competitors for centuries.
